Gilbert Attorney Lelia Parker Named to Board of Directors of Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service

Gilbert LLP announced today that Lelia Parker was recently named to the Board of Directors of the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service (MVLS).

MVLS is the largest provider of pro bono legal services to low-income Marylanders.  Its goal is to remove barriers to justice through free civil legal help, community engagement, and advocacy for equitable laws.  MVLS directly helps Marylanders facing legal challenges, while also fighting to change systems that harm people living in or near poverty.

Ms. Parker has been with Gilbert since 2021.  Her practice includes complex civil litigation, with a focus on mass torts, bankruptcy, and insurance coverage litigation.  Lelia also serves as the Chair of Gilbert’s Pro Bono Committee, where she directs her practice toward prisoner rights and police reform.

Responding to her appointment, Ms. Parker said, “I am honored to contribute to MVLS’ legacy of providing legal representation to people who have historically experienced inequitable access to the legal system.  I look forward to doing everything possible to serve MVLS in its commitment to advocating for greater justice throughout our society.”

“Lelia is a tremendous lawyer,” said Kami Quinn, Chair of Gilbert LLP.  “From her first days here, she has shown a passion and expertise for pro bono legal work that is second to none.  We are proud of Lelia’s MVLS appointment and know she will do great things for this vital organization.”

Gilbert’s goal in pro bono representation is to develop and implement strategic approaches that will solve clients’ problems.  The firm encourages its attorneys to seek pro bono work and is widely available to individuals and organizations who need expert legal assistance.

Gilbert LLP is a Washington-based law firm specializing in litigation and strategic risk management, insurance recovery and complex dispute resolution.
