Gilbert LLP, a Washington D.C. law firm that specializes in insurance recovery, mass tort bankruptcies, and complex dispute resolution, announced that effective today Scott Gilbert, the firm’s founder, will step down as chair of the firm, having served in that role for 21 years. The Gilbert partnership has elected a new Executive Committee to guide the firm, chaired by Kami Quinn. Craig Litherland will continue in his longstanding role as firm CEO.
Gilbert’s management change is the outgrowth of years of strategic planning and builds on the firm’s growth and evolution over 21 years. Quinn has been with the firm since its founding in 2001, and the members of the Executive Committee are all long-tenured Gilbert attorneys.
Gilbert LLP has earned a sterling reputation for solving complex problems and delivering results for its clients. Firm lawyers have secured for clients more than $40 billion in insurance assets, and have devised unprecedented legal and commercial strategies to resolve exceptionally challenging disputes. In recent years, Gilbert has become a major player in opioid legal proceedings, representing multiple governmental entities in opioid litigation, bankruptcy, insurance, and related matters with a goal of establishing well-funded, long-lasting solutions to abate the opioid crisis.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to lead this firm for over two decades,” Scott said. “We have charted new directions in the law and crafted solutions for our clients that no one thought possible. We have emphasized the importance of public service and have led by example. We will continue to do so.”
Quinn joined the Gilbert partnership in 2009 and has built a powerful record of achievement in insurance recovery and mass tort bankruptcy. Kami has been part of Gilbert’s senior leadership for several years and is deeply involved in the firm’s finance, business development, and hiring operations.
Gilbert’s partnership also elected a new firm Executive Committee, comprised of partners Richard Shore, Hunter Winstead, and Heather Frazier, along with Ms. Quinn.
“To say that I am proud of this firm and my colleagues would be a vast understatement,” Scott said. “I am quite confident that Kami, Craig and our partners on the Executive Committee are more than up to the task. Gilbert’s clients will continue to benefit from our strategic insights, exacting preparation and long-range vision.”
“Scott Gilbert is a pioneer,” Kami said. “He has built a firm with a strong and groundbreaking vision and served by accomplished lawyers. For 21 years, our clients have benefitted from his impressive talents, and I am honored to follow in his footsteps. Together with our Executive Committee, I look forward to continuing to make Gilbert the go-to firm for exceptional results.”
