Gilbert LLP Helps Kentucky Town Rebuild Following Deadly Winter Tornadoes

Gilbert LLP, a Washington, D.C. law firm that specializes in complex dispute resolution, announced today that it has engaged in a dynamic new pro bono project to assist the victims of this winter’s deadly tornadoes in Kentucky.

With a goal of having lasting impact in a community, Gilbert has partnered with Disaster Relief at Work (DRAW) and the town of Mayfield, Kentucky to help rebuild this city of 10,000.  In addition to making a significant financial contribution, Gilbert attorneys are planning to work with DRAW and Mayfield officials in person to rebuild a local park that had been heavily damaged by the tornadoes.

“Mayfield Mayor Kathy Stewart O’Nan realized that rebuilding the park would help revitalize their town and give residents a spirit of hope going forward,” said Craig Litherland, Gilbert’s Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer.  “Our attorneys decided that we wanted to be a part of Mayfield’s rebuilding efforts, and we are pleased to have been able to help in multiple ways.”

Work to clean up and improve Mayfield’s park is well underway, and Gilbert attorneys will join with residents on May 11 to continue those efforts.  On May 12, Mayfield will hold a rededication ceremony to once again make the park a vibrant community resource.

A key tenant of Gilbert’s philosophy is to “give back.”  All Gilbert lawyers and employees engage in public service work, including community initiatives, educational and charitable activities, and pro bono legal work.
